Mia and the Ocean Spirit
Mia is furious. Her brother, Dominic, has spilt water over her favourite painting. She rushes to the beach, searching for a way to overcome this anger that is making her eyes burn and palms itch.
"I wish there was a way to feel no anger at all," she murmurs looking at the shimmering waves crash into the sand. Her prayer reaches the depths of the Ocean. A magical adventure awaits. A ride on a dolphin's back, journey into the misty blue seas, and a beautiful meeting with the Spirit of the Ocean who in a charming and gentle way grants Mia's deep and sincere wish.

HOW THIS STORY CAME TO BE?
I wrote this story for Mia, a very quiet and perceptive 8 year old child I spent some time teaching in the summer of 2022. I had asked her for an emotion she wanted to overcome, and she said 'anger'.
I wrote this story in conjuction with the story for Dominic, her older brother, who came up with 'sadness' as an emotion he wanted to look at.
This story shows a gentle way in which anger can be released. Just as Mia finds a blue sapphire, children may be encouraged to find objects in nature which soothe and heal them.
The story is for children (age 7+) and adults.
